The choice of treatment is done by using a pharmacology data base constructed with the group expert assessments techniques. The experimental studies have revealed certain psychological background of the adequate drug therapy by physicians. The system utilizes a drug incompatibilities data base. Working in the dialog mode, the system inhibits the choice of incompatible drugs while the occurence of undesirable or unusual drug combinations is announced with a special warning. The user may reject any component of such an undesirable combination. A special routine may give the explanation of the given warning.

For keeping record, the dialog may be printed out.

The theory for developing this system is described in the following papers:

The Pharm-2 System is a chapter in Ph.D. dissertation of Sergei Butko defended at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and has been implemented in an ER at the National Research Center for Surgery in Moscow.

The Pharm-2 System has been marketed by MEDINCO Associates of Moscow. For other products of MEDINCO see XDIS: Diagnostic Advisory System
